100% sure Trump says Iran will attack the US within a week

Felixnews.com – US President Donald Trump reiterated his reasons for continuing military operations against Iran, codenamed “Operation Epic Fury.” Speaking before members of the Republican Party in the US House of Representatives, Trump claimed to have evidence that Tehran had the capability to launch an attack against the United States within the next week.

“I will give you the best reason of all. Within a week, they will definitely attack us, 100%,” Trump said in his statement, as reported by Felixnews on Monday (9/3/2026) evening local time.

Trump said Iran currently has a stockpile of missiles that far exceeds any intelligence estimates. He also warned of the potential for a massive Iranian attack on the stability of the Middle East and Israel, including the threat of nuclear weapons.

“They’re ready. They have all these missiles, far more than anyone expected, and they’re going to attack us. They’re going to attack the entire Middle East and Israel. And if they have nuclear weapons, they’re going to use them against Israel, and it’s going to be a major attack,” he added.

However, Trump’s statement has drawn scrutiny due to the lack of concrete evidence to support it. Contradictions also emerged when Trump, in a previous interview with CBS News, claimed that Tehran’s military might had been completely depleted due to the US offensive, which proceeded more quickly than expected.

“If you look at it, they (Iran) have nothing left. There’s nothing left in a military sense,” Trump claimed, which was seen as contradicting his earlier concerns about a major attack.

Beyond the evidentiary issues, the Trump administration has also shown inconsistencies regarding the primary reason behind this aggression. Previously, Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that the US entered the war because its ally, Israel, was planning to attack Iran first. However, Trump denied this and asserted that the decision to attack Iran was purely a US initiative to anticipate a nuclear threat.

Rubio eventually corrected his own statement, stating that the pretext for the US attack was actually to counter Iran’s ballistic missile program, not simply a request from Israel.

By the 10th day of the fighting, Trump’s claim of Iran’s use of nuclear weapons remained unsubstantiated.
