The draw determined the 42 teams that will compete for the World Cup trophy. Six teams remain to be decided in the playoffs.
The 12 groups of four teams each that will compete in the 2026 World Cup in the United States, Mexico, and Canada were formed after Friday’s draw in Washington, D.C., under the watchful eye of Donald Trump. Only six teams remain to be determined, which must still go through the playoffs and the distribution, this Saturday, of the venues where each group will play. The champion, Argentina, is in an “easy” group. France, the runner-up, is in one of the “groups of death.”
