Felixnews.com – Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney stated that the joint attack by Israel and the United States against Iran prima facie or unilateral allegations appear to be inconsistent with international law.
According to a report by The Guardian on Wednesday (March 4, 2026), Carney said Canada had not received prior notification of the military operation and had not been asked to participate.
“We were not informed beforehand, and we were not asked to participate. Prima facie, this action appears inconsistent with international law,” Carney said during a visit to Australia.

The statement marked a change in tone from the Canadian government. Carney had previously expressed support for the attack last Saturday, a statement he now acknowledged with regret.
While questioning the legality of the attack, Carney emphasized that Canada remains supportive of international efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and averting threats to global stability.
However, he believes the escalating conflict demonstrates the failure of the international order to prevent military escalation.
