Saudi Arabia Destroys 3 Ballistic Missiles and 4 Iranian Drones

Felixnews.com – The Saudi Arabian military successfully shot down three ballistic missiles and four Iranian drones that entered the kingdom’s airspace early Monday (March 9, 2026) local time.

The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Defense stated in a post on X that three ballistic missiles launched toward Prince Sultan Air Base in Al-Kharj were intercepted and destroyed.

Arab News reported that two drones were shot down in the northern part of Riyadh, another drone targeting the Shaybah oil field was intercepted in the Empty Quarter desert, and another drone was destroyed in the northern province of Al-Jouf.

The wave of attacks earlier this morning in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other Gulf countries appears to follow a specific pattern, with Iran launching missiles and drones in waves starting at midnight and continuing nonstop until noon.

Saudi Arabia’s air defense system has successfully intercepted and destroyed a large number of missiles and drones in recent days. Most of the missiles were aimed at Prince Sultan Air Base, while many drones targeted Shaybah Airfield.

Video footage posted by the Ministry of Defense on Sunday showed several enemy drones being neutralized.

However, two people were reportedly killed and 12 others injured after a projectile landed in a residential area in Al-Kharj Province, where Prince Sultan Air Base is located.

A Saudi civil defense spokesman said the two fatalities were Indian and Bangladeshi nationals, while the dozen injured were all Bangladeshi. The victims were employees of a maintenance and cleaning company in the area.
