Felixnews.com – Saudi Arabia has set the date for Eid al-Fitr 1447 AH for Friday, March 20, 2026. Eid al-Fitr was determined after the crescent moon was not sighted on Wednesday night, or on the 29th of Ramadan 1447 AH.
As reported by Arab News on Thursday (March 19, 2026), the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia stated that the crescent moon of Shawwal was not sighted on Wednesday, March 18, 2026.

Consequently, Muslims in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will fast for a full 30 days this year. The Eid prayer will be held 15 minutes after sunrise this coming Friday.
Previously, the Supreme Council issued an official call urging Muslims throughout Saudi Arabia to look for the crescent moon of Shawwal on Wednesday night, the 29th of Ramadan, which coincides with March 18, 2026.
The sighting of the Shawwal crescent marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan and the start of the week-long Eid al-Fitr celebrations in the Kingdom.
According to Al Arabiya, the Supreme Court of Saudi Arabia declared Thursday to be the last day of Ramadan and Friday to be the first day of Eid al-Fitr, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
The UAE, Qatar, and Bahrain also announced Friday as the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
